The University of São Paulo School of Dentistry (FOUSP) is one of the most traditional in the country. It is considered a center of reference for teaching and research. Currently, FOUSP is composed of seven departments:
  • Department Of Maxilofacial Surgery, Prosthesis And Traumatology
  • Department of Biomaterials and Oral Biology
  • Department of Operative Dentistry
  • Department of Stomatology
  • Department of Social Dentistry
  • Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
  • Department of Prosthodontics
FOUSP seeks to train professionals with ethics, social responsibility and an awareness of the importance of continued education. Professionals trained by FOUSP work in private practice and in public services, such as the Brazilian National Healthcare System (Sistema Única de Saude). Currently, FOUSP provides among the most diverse modalities of dental treatment. On average, 138,000 patients are treated per year in our facilities. This work is part of the commitment of the university to social reform and outreach. The infrastructure at FOUSP is composed of:
  • Dental Clinic with 198 treatment stations; 26 intraoral radiograph machines, 1 digital panoramic machine and 4 clinical support laboratories.
  • Graduate Student Clinic, with 13 treatment stations and accessibility ramp
  • 9 specialization treatment clinics
  • Dentistry Division at the University Hospital
  • 32 Research Laboratories
  • Two multidisciplinary laboratories that have the capacity for 116 students on the top floor and 140 on the bottom floor.
  • The Professor Edmir Matson Complex, containing both the Center of Teledentistry/Telehealth and the Center for Digital Production (CPDig)
  • Teeth Biobank
  • Five classrooms accommodating up to 100 students per classroom
  • The Professor Dr.Myaki Issao Amphitheater, with a capacity for 170 people
  • The Department of Orthodontics Amphitheater, with a capacity for 60 people
  • Living room for professores and retired employees
  • Giovana Maldonado Community Living Space for undergraduate students
  • 1900 Academic-Cultural Space
As part of the cultural and outreach activities, students can participate in social and academic projects. Our undergraduate and graduate students have played a fundamental role in the construction of the history of dentistry in Brazil. They are part of the Alumini Association of the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry (AFFO) which provides support and collaboration for the cosntruction of our schools history and future. The Board of Directors has the constant support of five permanent committees:
  • The Committee for Undergraduate Studies
  • The Commitee for Graduate Studies
  • The Commitee for Research
  • The Committe for Culture and University Outreach
  • The Committee for International Relations
