The projects developed at the Composite Laboratory involve the characterization of commercial restorative composites through the analysis of their physicochemical properties and in vitro performance and durability evaluations. Experimental composites are also formulated and tested to identify the role of specific components in the behavior of these materials. Several projects are developed in collaboration with other national and international research centers, as well as collaborations with the dental materials industry. Among the equipment available in the laboratory is an FT-IR spectrometer (purchased from FAPESP resources) used for characterization of materials and determination of the degree of conversion to polymers and resin composites.
