The Strictu Sensu Graduate Program in Dentistry at the University of São Paulo is a system which provides students with training in academia and research production. The program aims to produce competent professors and researchers.

In the Master´s Degree Program (MA), students develop skills in teaching and academic planning. These skills are refined while participating in the undergraduate program as teacher assistants. In the Doctorate Degree Program (PhD), students will apply academic information and techniques acquired during the MA Program to develop scientific research in a specific field.

There are five programs within the Graduate Program:  Operative Dentistry, Stomatology, Oral Pathology, Dental Sciences and Dental Materials. Within the five programs, there are different areas of focus (Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology, Integrated Clinic, Endodontics, Legal Dentistry, Social Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthesis and Dental Prosthesis).

The Lato Sensu Program consists of specialization progams in different fields of dentistry. This program is partnered with the Foundation for the Scientific and Technological Development of Dentistry – FUNDECTO. Each specialization program lasts between 13 and 36 months. Programs include the following areas: Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology, Operative Dentistry, Endodontics, Implant Dentistry, Legal Dentistry, Work Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Dentistry for Patients with Special Needs, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Dental Radiology and Imaging and Public Health.

Admission to the Master´s and Doctoral Programs, are dependent on the calendar of each of the aforementioned programs.
