OriginalityCheck (Turnitin) is a plagiarism detection support tool that has a comparative database of over 143 million scholarly articles, 55 billion stored sites and 300 million student assignments. It allows educators to check students’ work for incorrect citations and possible plagiarism by comparing with the constantly updated database. Each USP Graduate Program accredited faculty / researcher will receive a welcome message with the information necessary to set up their user account on the Originality Check system.

To start using OriginalityCheck (Turnitin) follow the instructions in this tutorial, the email and password forwarded in the welcome message. OriginalityCheck is part of a USP-acquired “package” that also includes two other tools: GradeMark and SimilarityCheck. The first is an online teaching platform that allows teachers to organize disciplines and courses aimed at student training and plagiarism prevention even during undergraduate research.

The other is a system similar to OriginalityCheck, but aimed at journal editors – it will soon be made available by SIBi and the USP Periodic Scientific Publications Support Program Accreditation Commission to USP journal editors. Doubts, comments and suggestions about the initiative can be sent to SIBi by email integrity.academica@sibi.usp.br
